A small number of DJ-producers can claim to touch the success that R3hab – real name Fadil El Ghoul – has earned over the course of his young career; in fact, the youngster’s rapid rise through the ranks of the electronic music world has been almost unsurpassed. If few DJs can say their own sound verges on a standalone and established genre; even fewer can do it in such a short space of time. R3hab’s brand of ‘Chainsaw Madness’ has created such a stir in the scene that time-honored acts are constantly in line to show their support – Tiesto, Afrojack and Calvin Harris (to name but a few) are all keen followers of the Dutchman’s signature noise. Selling out the most coveted of clubs, in demand for highest profile remixes and continually creating the most progressive Dance Music around – 2013 is set to be uniformly unrivalled.

2012 started with a bang as R3hab was crowned victor in the Miami Winter Music Conference’s IDMA ‘Breakthrough Artist Award’ back in March. The sought after accolade naturally propelled his career towards the United States; a place he now considers ‘a home-from-home’. Not that Fadil can ever stay in one place for long however; fiercely requested the world over, the following months were spent touring as a solo artist with his signature sound reverberating around the walls of Asia, Europe and Australia in the most popular of clubbing destinations. As if these abundant sell-out shows were not confirmation enough for R3hab’s status as global sensation, DJ Mag underscored this emphatically in October 2012 as he came in at #73 in their annual ‘Top 100 DJs’.

A touring DJ however, is merely a half of R3hab’s supremacy. Teaming up with fellow compatriot Afrojack on the electrifying ‘Prutataaa’, R3hab created a mainstage masterpiece for the summer of 2012, entering into the Top 10 of the Beatport Electro Chart within days of its release. His collaboration with Swanky Tunes and Max C ‘Sending My Love’ was also given early support by Swedish House Mafia when it was played in their set at the iTunes Festival, pulling in tens of thousands of listeners, and reaching a coveted #2 on the Beatport overall chart.

Beyond this, writing and producing collaborations with some of the hottest acts around has showcased a whole other side to him as a multi-faceted artist. Featuring the globally recognized Antipodean singer Havana Brown, his smash hit ‘You’ll Be Mine’ recently topped the Australian charts, which opened the Dutch star up to a brand new fan base. Furthermore, time spent producing with the legend that is Enrique Iglesias also shaped one of the biggest dance floor fillers of the year; ‘Finally Found You’ put him in front of the eyes and ears of a truly global audience and further cemented the fact that R3hab’s favorite territory – like so many of the greats – is of course, the studio. When it comes to production prowess, you’d be hard pushed to find anybody with more of it than R3hab.

R3hab’s crossover from the Electronic arena to multiple genres has also left some of Pop’s glitterati knocking at his door. He has gone on to re-work Lady Gaga’s ‘Marry The Night’, Calvin Harris’s ‘We’ll Be Coming Back’, Katy Perry’s ‘The One That Got Away’, No Doubt’s ‘Looking Hot’, Pitbull’s ‘Back In Time’ and Madonna’s ‘Turn Up The Radio’ in quick succession plus collaborations with David Guetta and Usher to add to his lengthy bow.

Although still young, R3hab has unquestionably honed his craft of producing personal tracks. His ‘Living for the City’ release has received heavy support from Beatport buyers going straight in at #5 in the overall chart within a matter of days! More recently, Fadil was honoured the opportunity of producing EDC Orlando’s official 2012 anthem ‘A Night In’ – a track that set the blogosphere ablaze and sent critics shouting from the rooftops. Previewed on Soundcloud his latest smash with ZROQ ‘Skydrop’ clocked up an astounding 175,000 hits before it’s official release on Tiesto’s Musical Freedom label receiving rave reviews across the globe. With many more productions under his belt, hints at future singles, worldwide tours and huge collaborations coming soon it’s amazing to think the world has only seen the start of R3hab.
