Dirty Herz
Dirty Herz is the inspired collaboration of Frank van Rooijen and André Frauenstein, based in Johannesburg South Africa. Joining from two different vantage points in electronic music, the twosome discovered and developed a strong friendship several years ago whilst serving their own sound sectors in the global dance music industry.
The brand Dirty Herz reflects the experiences of both members through their productions and live shows; it’s this passionate approach and artistry that creates the backbone of one the most exciting acts to emerge from Africa. With a wealth of knowledge and experience internationally and an intimate understanding of their sound, Dirty Herz is set to truly make a mark with their distinctive take on melodies, beats and grooves.
Merging energies by using a melting pot of influences, the Dirty Herz intention is to present a creative, inspired and intensive soul search in sound. It languishes at the door of a more global cadence and indulges an inventive experimental tip. The result is a movement that transcends passion and emotion for a sound excursion, truly unique to Africa’s electronic dance music scene.
Whether it be hard at work in the studio creating tunes and remixes or balancing tour schedules, Dirty Herz undoubtedly has to be one of the hardest working duos around. They aim to shape the public’s appreciation by creating truly memorable nights around the world and high caliber productions.
The duo’s work has been internationally acclaimed by many major industry giants which has resulted in Dirty Herz remixes for a.o. Cosmic Gate, Marco V, Lock ‘n Load, Brooklyn Bounce, Robin S, Solarstone, Rozalla, Mory Kante and more. The duo has shaped their discography with releases on labels such as Chuckie’s Dirty Dutch Music, Blackhole Recordings (founded by Tiësto), Maelstrom Records (the UK home of Robbie Rivera, Armin van Buuren, Gareth Emery, the Pacha, Cream and Godskitchen compilations and more) and their international home Selekted Music, from where they run and handle the A&R for the label Powerhouse.
